Project Entropy: a strategy game your laptop can run
Base building, an alliance and insect hordes on a hostile planet, with requirements that an integrated graphics chip already meets.

Kepler 452B does not want you there
Project Entropy is a science-fiction strategy game from FunPlus. You land on Kepler 452B, a hostile planet, and your job is to build a base that survives it. The story frames your arrival as an invasion, and the planet answers with hordes of insects. Your base grows, your army grows, and the defences you place decide whether the next wave gets through. On PC it runs on Windows, through Steam or the official launcher, and the requirements are covered below.

Build, train, defend
The loop will feel familiar if you have played a base-building strategy game before. You put up structures, upgrade them, and train units until you have an army. Artillery covers the ground around the base. Then the hordes arrive, and you find out whether your layout holds. Between waves you expand and queue the next upgrade.
Why the alliance matters
Playing alone works for a while. Joining an alliance is where the game opens up. Alliances fight wars against each other, and those wars are a large part of what the base and the army are for. The honest part is in the rules: alliance wars reward the players who log in the most. If your schedule is casual, you will stay behind the most active members, and the game will not hide that from you.

About the timers
Construction runs on timers. You queue an upgrade, you wait, and the wait gets longer as the base grows. That is standard for the genre, and it is also the thing that nudges you toward spending if you are impatient. You do not have to. Treat the timers as a reason to check in a couple of times a day rather than a wall to buy your way through. The upside is that a short session is enough to queue everything and leave.
Will it run on your PC?
This is the part that sets Project Entropy apart from most of the games we cover. It is very light.
- Graphics: the official minimum is a GTX 460 with 4 GB of RAM, so recent laptops with integrated graphics qualify.
- Disk: about 8 GB, which is less than a single update for some open-world games.
- Platform: Windows, through Steam or the official launcher.
If you want a strategy game and your PC struggles with anything recent, this is a reasonable place to start. Expect timers, expect the alliance to matter, and expect the hordes to keep coming. Project Entropy is free on Windows.
